The Early Years

Queen Margaret's School

Corinda attended Queen Margaret's School in Duncan (which is the all-girls "sister" school of the then all-boys Shawnigan Lake School) on beautiful Vancouver Island. Despite many challenges, she blossomed into a teenager while pursuing her studies from Grade 7 to Grade 12.

In grade 10, Corinda experienced early acting success as "The Rose Seller" in "Oliver," which led to positive press coverage. This brought Corinda's talent to the attention of Joe Grey, a drama teacher with Shawnigan Lake School. In her grade 12 year, Corinda received the "One Piano Award" in the school talent competition.

While in Grade 10 (age 16), Corinda was accepted by the prestigious Northern Royal College of Music in England for their music studies program, but she turned it down to study closer to home, finishing Queen Margaret's School and continuing at the University of British Columbia.

Meredythe Broadway

Meredythe Broadway was Corinda's vocal coach in Duncan, BC. She was kind and sensitive, helping Corinda develop her "voice". Corinda learned to appreciate that showing sensitivity in her vocal performances was okay.

Meredythe coached Corinda's vocal performances for three years, helping her prepare for the Kiwanis Music Festival, the "Eliza Doolittle" role at Shawnigan Lake, and for her audition for UBC.
